Decrease in Platelets by 10.4%, Increase in Leukocyte-reduced Apheresis Platelets by 27.1%

 

In 2014, Korean Red Cross Blood Service supplied 4,099,483 units of blood products for transfusion, a drop of 3.4% compared to 2013, to about 2,700 medical institutions across the nation. While the supply of red blood cells, platelets and fresh frozen plasma has decreased by 1.5%, 10.4%, and 1.7% respectively, the supply of leukocyte-reduced apheresis platelets and cryoprecipitate rose by 27.1% and 4.9% respectively in 2014.
